one year later

it's crazy to believe that it's been one year since my last post. it's insane thinking about all the ups and downs, triumphs and failures, highs and lows i've experience in the past year. through it all, i'm still very, very grateful to God for His mercy, love, grace and friendship. where do i begin???

it's our anniversary...

sir and i celebrated our one year anniversary on november 10. at five months pregnant, we threw a beautiful anniversary reception. the people who really mattered came in love and overwhelming support. it was a beautiful experience and fantastic party. i couldn't believe how awesome my own family showed out with their talents in food, decorating, music and just being genuinely happy for hubby and me. i also got to meet hubby's family for the very first time. that was surreal–especially meeting his mother for the very first time. she seems nice enough, but there's obviously a real disconnect between her and sir. my heart breaks that he doesn't have that same closeness as my family and i. i'm constantly whispering prayers for healing and restoration or at the very least an understanding of each other over time. nonetheless, differences were set aside and we all had a wonderful time.

and now there is three...

on tuesday, march 9, 2010 at 2:15 p.m., we welcomed our son into our lives. the birthing process is something i will never forget. li'l sir was a surprise to us (we hadn't planned on having children for another year or so), but we totally cannot ever imagine life without him. li'l sir is definitely God's love made flesh. i'm amazed by how wonderful, beautiful, smart and funny he is at just shy of six months old. i don't know how i will ever repay God for this undeserved blessing he's given me. i want to hold him, kiss him and just keep him close to me forever. he's simply amazing and the way i view life and the way i feel about love are forever changed. sir is an awesome father. he didn't have that close connection with his father growing up, even though they talk from time to time now. he pours all he didn't have and all he wants to be into our son. it's a beautiful gift to be a parent and wouldn't trade him for anything or anyone in the universe. i would sooner die than allow harm to come to him and God's mercy be with anyone who tries.

pressing toward the mark...
as i'm realizing that i want more than where and what i am, it's been hard letting old things and people go. dropping old baggage so i can run my race is proving harder than i imagine. there are still some past hurts (and some fresh ones) i need God to help me get over. fears i must conquer in order to succeed. new ideas i must embrace to achieve. despite this fallen economy and bleak reports, there is a wonderful world with endless possibilities. i pray for wisdom, strength and courage to move boldly toward the calling and purpose He has for me. i move toward my complete and total freedom. freedom from self-guilt. from the imposed guilt and expectations of others. from past hurts and disappointments. moving toward my liberty!

be patient while waiting for change. be ready for it when it happens. be blessed.
